If you lack inspiration in your life, just take a look at young Nzambi Matee, a 29-year-old entrepreneur from Nairobi, who decided to do something real about the plastic waste in her country. Her startup company Gjenge Makers is taking tons of plastic waste, combining it with sand, and forming lightweight and super-strong paving bricks. Not only are they inexpensive to produce, they’re also lighter and stronger than traditional clay bricks. What’s more, she plans to expand to create bricks for buildings. She employs 112 people in her community, and she has been recognized through the UN Environment Programme as a “Young Champion of the Earth for Africa”.
