Hyundai Seven Concept

Hyundai is going all-in on EVs, and its latest show pony is the Seven Concept. The EV crossover might just be a concept for now, but it’s a precursor to the upcoming Ioniq 7 EV that will show up in dealerships within less than two years. The “Parametric Pixel” lighting in front and back are only outdone by the huge glass tailgate, a feature unlikely to make it to the production version. The Seven might look like an SUV with its big fenders and prominent rear haunches, but inside it’s more like a rolling living room that offers occupants a flat floor, big swivel chairs, a large bench seat, and an advanced Hygiene Airflow System and UVC sterilization. There are even shoe compartments to sequester dirt and smells and a joystick controller for steering. Powertrain details are scant, but Hyundai says there will be over 300 miles of range and DC fast charging will juice the Ioniq 7 from 10% to an 80% charge in 20 minutes. The production version should launch sometime in 2023, and hopefully some of the Seven Concept’s coolness will carry over.
