Competition Motors 1956 Porsche 550 Spyder

The Porsche 550 Spyder is an icon, owned by the likes of James Dean (who died while driving one) and Steven McQueen. This 1956 specimen is special because it introduced the car to the American market. Outfitted in competition-spec, it has special modifications such as a larger oval rear grille, dual air scoops on the hood and fenders, and custom Wendler bodywork. It has a pedigreed racing history that’s sure to impress and should continue to provide driving thrills. In its current form, it has a 356 Carrera engine paired with the original manual transmission. The mid-engined icon also has white paint with special blue rear fender highlights that set it apart from the conventional silver versions we’ve become accustomed to. It’s now up for sale, and the lucky buyer will have one of the best purist’s sports cars on earth and a legend in the pantheon of vintage Porsches.
