Retro gaming was once a field dominated entirely by cheap joysticks in Walgreen’s “Toys and Games” aisle. Now, high quality retro systems are pouring out like Greeks from a wooden horse. The latest is the C64 Mini, a fully functional rerelease of the Commodore 64 that comes loaded with 64 classic games. But the Commodore 64 had a leg up on its competition in that the console was also a home computer system and the C64 Mini isn’t forgoing that functionality. We’re not sure exactly what has or hasn’t been modernized in the C64 Mini, so we won’t make grand promises about the computing power of the rerelease, but if you’re feeling nostalgic for the days before double clicking and mice, then it may be the downgrade you’re looking for. Just make sure your entertainment center’s gaming shelf has enough room for the thing.
