We sometimes recognize that car design is influenced by aircraft and boats, but it’s also very true that great automotive design has had a direct effect on other fields, including architecture. The book Carchitecture: Houses with Horsepower about how cars have changed building design. The book covers a wide swath of cars and houses all over the world, as well as the history of such. 192 pages of rich photos and background display the parallels of building and automobile design and thankfully showcase the cars in these settings. Mercedes, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, and the like are viewed with the creations of Frank Lloyd Wright, Charles and Ray Eames, and Koenig and Ellwood. Although most of the book covers European models, there’s a smattering of American models represented, as well. Its 192 pages should make for engrossing page-turning for fans of both beautiful cars and iconic architecture.
