Aside from the somewhat unfortunate name choice that probably wouldn’t fly in the UK, this 1969 VW Super Bugger is essentially a VW Beetle with a house on its back. The Super Bugger is a conversion camper that was built by California-based Smith’s Garage back in the ’70s. The camper features more heavily padded seats, more robust suspension, wider tires, two single beds, a stove/sink drawer for indoor/outdoor use, and acres of mottled carpet. Perhaps the most amazing aspect was the fact that it had a single owner over its 52-year life. If you’re lucky enough to win it at Mecum’s auction, just beware of crosswinds and really jealous hippies.
