1961 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Aerodinamico

This is one of the most exciting vintage Ferrari auctions so far this year. The very rare (only 17 made) Ferrari 400 Superamerica Aerodinamico is up for bidding. It was made for just a few short years (1959-1964), and the slinky grand touring car offered excellent performance, power, comfort and style. Hand built at Pinin Farina, the Ferrari 400 Superamerica series was the base car used with special coupe-style bodywork and the smaller, lighter, and potent 355 bhp Colombo V12 was under the hood. It was the same engine used by the legendary 250 GTO. This very car that’s up for auction is the same prototype that showed up on the cover of the April 1963 issue of Car and Driver magazine. It has nearly a quarter-million dollars in restoration work, and it even has Ferrari Classiche certification, original numbers-matching body, chassis, differential, engine, and gearbox. Expect it to fetch serious money when all is said and done at the RM Sotheby’s auction going on now.
