Sure, Montreal-based architecture and design firm Naturehumaine designs and builds multi-unit residences, cabins, galleries, businesses and stores, but their approach makes the creations they’re responsible for different than the other options you’ve seen before. Naturehumaine believes that, regardless of size or budget, every project has the unique potential to be extraordinary. This is clear in the La Binocle project here. Located in the Eastern Townships tourist region of southeastern Quebec, Canada, La Binocle is essentially a two-building, minimalist cabin that hangs over a cliff and is built with everything you want in a writer’s retreat. Plenty of exposed wood and floor-to-ceiling windows for all the warmth and panoramic views you long for. Interior and exterior contrast, along with overhanging roofs and an overall slope over the cliff. As for the overall layout, one of the buildings contains all the living areas while the other has two bedrooms—or, in other words, enough space for everyone to enjoy themselves while still being separated.
