It looks like Porsche might want to totally leapfrog autonomous driving to something bigger because it just partnered with airplane manufacturer Boeing to develop and build a flying car. But rather than commercialize it, the German carmaker wants to build a premium vehicle with Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) capabilities that caters to its affluent and enthusiast customer base. Both companies will work together not just to create a fancy flying car but to take deeper look at the future of premium urban air mobility, its use by the general public, as well as the efficacy of a premium flying car for multiple purposes. It looks like the flying car race is on since Boeing competitor Airbus is already in the mix along with Terrafugia, AeroMobil, and Kitty Hawk. We’re guessing Porsche’s Boeing version might, at the very least, become the 911 Carrera of the skies.
