Bentley’s W12 engine is a monster, but when it comes to sporting performance for their driving enthusiast customer base that prefers not to be chauffeured, they go twin-turbo V8. Their new V8 Flying Spur gets the same engine as the Continental GT: a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 549 horses and 568 lb-ft of torque. Top speed is 198 mph, and 60 mph comes in about four seconds from a standstill. While it’s not as potent as the W12, it does drop over 200 pounds off the curb weight compared to its 12-cylinder brother making it more adept through the twisties and more responsive. The V8 Flying Spur also benefits from adaptive dampers, torque vectoring, lightweight anti-roll bars, four-wheel steering, and an optional 48-volt active anti-roll system. You can add sinister Blackline Specification that gives an air of stealth, too. Oh, and don’t worry about the levels of luxury in the V8 Flying Spur. Fine Nappa leather, wood, and metal abound, along with the stunning Bentley Rotating Display, mood lighting, and rich contrast stitching. Bentley doesn’t want any of its customers to suffer.
