Although CA-based Alpha Motor Inc. has yet to produce a drivable model of any of its EVs, there’s some serious excitement behind the brand. They have numerous concepts ranging from the slick Saga sedan to the Superwolf off-road pickup truck. Now, the brand has unveiled its interpretation of the electric SUV, the REX. For this model, Alpha has partnered with Los Angeles-based fashion label Free & Easy to create a retro-styled “AUV” (Adventure Utility Vehicle). It comes in either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. With the dual-motor AWD version, the REX has a 275-mile range, a 6.2-second 0-60 mph sprint time, and a 3,000-lb towing capacity. Adventure-ready equipment includes a skid plate, steel bumpers with tow hooks, a grilled circular LED headlight cluster with optional grilled auxiliary lights. Optional bits include a safari-style roof rack and 16” to 18” wheels with BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires. The brand is taking reservations now, but there’s no word on when you’ll get it.
