You can have your blingy, Rodeo-Drive, high-powered, prime-time ready G-Wagen. It’s the trail-minded ones we want. Expedition Motor Company has restored a ‘91 250GD Wolf to the point of making it far more coveted and special than modern versions ever could hope to be. 250GDs were typically military purposed and built to take on just about anything from mud and rocks to deep water and deep snow. 1,000 hours went into this particular frame-off restoration, and the results speak for themselves. Every detail, including the black grille and headlight surrounds, body-colored front skid plate, black fenders and body trim, as well as the totally new interior upholstery, give it a look and feel of the past with contemporary quality. Under the hood remains the torquey 2.5-liter diesel engine, mated to a floor-mounted 4-speed manual transmission. Rounding out the ruggedness are the water-fording snorkel, rugged Goodyear tires on black wheels, military Jerry-can, and the snap canvas canopy wrapped around orange rear roll cage bars.
