The ’70s 911 Targa is an icon in its beauty, simplicity, and driving purity. Porsche Design is celebrating its 50th Anniversary by auctioning a one-off 1972 911 S 2.4 Targa that’s been meticulously restored to perfection. It’s the result of a collaborative effort between Porsche Design and Porsche Classic. The black Targa gets detailed touches like Porsche Design graphics that read “50 Years of Porsche Design”, a Targa roll bar in Platinum Satin, and a “50 Years of Porsche Design” plaque on the grille of the engine cover. The special edition car will be sold alongside a Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 911 S 2.4 Targa watch that uses a 911 Fuchs wheel style as the automatic movement’s rotor. The car and watch will go up for auction at Sotheby’s Luxury Week in New York at the end of this year.
