Few of us have had cause to actually use a fire extinguisher, and because of that, we don’t really think about how difficult they can be to use sometimes. Senik is a new fire extinguisher concept that would solve those usage problems, while simultaneously tackling some of the economic issues of extinguishers. Sailee Adhao set out to make a much more intuitive extinguisher with Senik, keeping illiterate and first time users in mind. To use it, all you have to do is slam a big yellow button on the mount, which both allows the device to be taken off the wall and activates the fire suppressant inside. The suppressant is a fine water mist powered by fire extinguishing pressurized gasses and both are refillable, greatly reducing the replacement costs of traditional extinguishers. As for aiming, the device takes care of most of that for you, as its angle takes advantage of the way you’d naturally hold something of its shape. For now, it’s just in concept stage, but any company in the field should see the value of such a simple and safe design.
