Since I couldn’t choose my wife, kids or my French Bulldog, I choose my latest surfboard, which I received from our marketing director’s husband, Florian Saylor, who is a shaper in Los Angeles. The purpose in starting Freenote was to create an apparel company with a heartbeat where we all know exactly where the goods are coming from and exactly what type of people will use them. This board was made by hand by a friend of mine and of course in the state of California. I read a quote the other day from a famous dude who started a company and he said his purpose for starting his apparel brand was so he could surf more. That’s a joke and a silly reason to start a company. I enjoy surfing as much as anybody but sometimes my real responsibilities can get in the way and I understand that. This Hand-shaped Twin Pin Surfboard allows me to enjoy a hobby I love and it is absolutely a prized possession.
