If you’re a marathon runner, you certainly earn your calories. And what better way to replace those expended as you pound the pavement approximately 52,400 times over the course of 26.2 miles than with hot slices of pizza pie? In preparation for the November 3rd run, New Balance has partnered with L’Industrie Pizzeria to create a pop-up pizza shop where runners can earn slices for their miles run. And you don’t actually have to run the marathon to dine. Runners can join New Balance’s “Miles for Pizza” challenge using the Strava App, and they can get one slice for every five miles run. Seeing as how the average New York Style pizza slice is about 200 calories, and it takes about 500 calories to run five miles, you’ll still be in the black. The bad news is if you want to down a whole pizza, you’ll have to run about four marathons. The NB Pizza Co. opens to hungry runners on October 11 at 47 East 34th St. and will stay open every weekend through the marathon.
