Looking for a new cocktail to try out this weekend? Want to wind down with a fresh new drink? We’ve got you covered. Here’s what you should drink this weekend.
We’re slightly switching things up for this month’s column and we’ll be recommending a few mocktail recipes. Over the past few years, the Dry January trend has grown in popularity. If you aren’t participating yourself, you likely know someone who is. My wife and I gave it a try last year and, if nothing else, it gave us a chance to experiment with a variety of tasty and exciting non-alcoholic beverages. So, I picked out a mocktail recipe I’ve been making quite a bit recently: She Bites.
She Bites is an exceptionally simple and refreshing drink. All it takes is ginger beer, lime, and Ghia – a buzzy non-alcoholic aperitif. If you want to make this a full-strength beverage, we’d recommend swapping in Campari instead of the Ghia or even adding it into the mix. Either way, She Bites takes minimal prep but delivers excellent results. Whether you’re participating in Dry January or just want an easy-drinking afternoon beverage before hitting the booze, this mocktail is a great choice.
She Bites Ingredients
Ghia – Ghia has been one of the breakout non-alcoholic options of the past two years. The bitter and botanical NA aperitif is an excellent substitute for your favorite Italian aperitivo like Campari or Aperol. With a strong yet balanced flavor profile, it mixed well with a myriad of ingredients and works just as well on its own with a bit of seltzer or tonic water.
Lime – As with any citrus cocktail or mocktail ingredient, you’re going to want to pick up some fresh limes for this recipe.
She Bites Recipe
- Pour 2 ounces of Ghia into an ice-filled highball glass.
- Squeeze in a lime wedge’s worth of juice and top with ginger beer.
- Top off with fresh lime zest and garnish with a lime wheel
