Born out of the Bright Light Ventures innovation incubator, Zafirro has spent more than four years trying to make the sharpest razor blade on the planet. Zafirro uses a sapphire blade that is about 80 atoms at the tip. For reference, that’s more than ten times sharper than a surgeon’s scalpel and 5,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair. It’s safe to say that you’re going to get a closer shave with this two blade design than you will any of the 5+ blade designs on the market today. Each blade lasts from six to twelve months, so you’ll also be contributing to the reduction of the 2billion+ razor blades that the EPA says go into landfills each year. The handle has a sleek, timeless design, and it will likely be made of surgical stainless, titanium or tungsten.
