Can’t decide between a tent or a hammock for your next trip and don’t want to bring both? REI built a tent hammock. The REI Co-op Quarter Dome Air Hammock works like a traditional hammock, in that you hang it from your surroundings using guylines, but it has four instead of the more common two. This design, along with the shockcorded poles, spaces out the base and allows a fifth line to be run higher up over the middle to create a tent like shape that floats above the forest floor. That additional line allows for a bug-stop meshing when you don’t feel like being eaten alive all night or a quick deploy rainfly when you don’t feel like being soaked. The ingenious REI Co-op Quarter Dome Air Hammock has a large, easy to use entrance and also features interior and exterior mesh side pockets that are sized to hold up to a 32oz. Nalgene bottle. Camping just got a lot more comfortable.
