The Thanksgiving Weekend To-do List

Simple, but crucial things you should do this weekend.

1

Put your forks down and come out with your hams up. It’s over.

The turkey was tender. The company was consummate. The dessert was delicious. You did it. You made it through another Thanksgiving day. Now what?

The next few days are crucial to the integrity of the holiday. If Thanksgiving Day is cooking a turkey, Thanksgiving weekend is reheating the leftovers. Your weekend plans should be easy, convenient, free. You know, like leftovers. Which is where your post-Thanksgiving to-do list begins.

Eat Some Leftovers

The best thing about Thanksgiving leftovers is that you can throw them all into a pot, crack a couple eggs on it, and you’re set. You can pile them on a sandwich, cranberry sauce serving as the condiment. You can even take a fork straight to a container in the fridge. There is no wrong way to do Thanksgiving leftovers. No matter how hard you try, you still won’t get rid of them all. Godspeed.

Do a Puzzle

A puzzle is the perfect example of a proper Thanksgiving weekend activity. Something that can stay out on the table for a few days. Pop in and pop out. Have happy hour around it. Turn football on in the background. The puzzle is like a fireplace. Something to gather around. It’s as much about vibes as it is function.

Listen to Music

Live-er the better when it comes to Thanksgiving weekend music. Concert? Pull the trigger on tickets. Old family piano? Play it. Live albums? Put them on. Music is a portal that ushers us all into the holiday season. Whether you like it or not, holiday music is the soundtrack to your life for the next month. Might as well lean into it.

Get a Tree

Get a tree. Decorate the tree. It’s the official weekend of doing so. And while it’s fair to question holiday decor before Thanksgiving, your argument loses all steam post-Thanksgiving. Black Friday is day one of the next holiday season. Just be sure to keep your tree hydrated if you’re getting a real one and pick up a candle if you’re not.

Eat More Leftovers

Oh. You thought you were done with leftovers? Thought you ate some, ate some more, and crossed it off the to-do list? That’s cute. No. Sorry. They’re infinite. There’s always more in the fridge, so get in there and get yourself some more.
