Rowing Blazers Releases 2021 Summer Collection

Rowing Blazers Releases 2021 Summer Collection

Give yourself a boost of sunshine this summer with one of the pieces from Rowing Blazers’ 2021 Summer Collection. The clothing brand, founded by Jack Carlson, brought its trademark Ivy League Prep meets 80s family sitcom style to this seasonal release. Featured in the collection is a line of collaboration items with Sperry including nylon 5-panel hats, sneakers, and boat shoes. Plus, Rowing Blazers brought back some of their beloved items — like the I’m A Luxury and the ‘Diana’ Sheep Sweater — in new colorways.

While Rowing Blazers has attempted to distance itself from the specific “preppy” style, the Summer ’21 release fully leans in. “We’ve avoided the word ‘preppy’ since Rowing Blazers started, almost exactly four years ago,” Carlson shared in a press release. “The whole world has changed a lot in that time, and I think it’s time to start facing head-on what we’ve been doing unintentionally the whole time, and that’s changing (for the better) the way people think about ‘preppy’ clothes.”

Rowing Blazers has long felt like a clothing brand that fully embraced itself, that felt authentic — if also a little irreverent. So this decision to reenvision the preppy moniker is clever and well-suited to the brand.

More than anything, the Summer ’21 capsule is fun with pieces that are dripping with nostalgia while fitting into a modern wardrobe. In fact, the release runs the gamut of style icon influences, from Carlton Banks to Timothée Chalamet. We’ve got our eyes on that colorblock windbreaker, creperie hoodie, and Harry’s New York Bar ashtray in particular.
