When a stylish retro sneaker can reduce impact to both your feet and the earth at the same time, it’s something to celebrate. Everlane just introduced their Tread sneaker, and it’s the kind of footwear that breaks with both convention and waste. These daily wear sneaks use 94.2% less virgin plastic, meaning the sole is made with recycled plastic and natural rubber that drastically reduces greenhouse gas emissions. The leather comes from a Gold-Certified tannery that produces materials with fewer resources and waste and also maintains environmental protocols for leather production. Even the laces and shoe lining are made from recycled plastic bottles. The look is minimalist but stylish and comes in seven colors. Off-White and Blush utilize smooth leather, while the remaining colors incorporate swaths of suede in the mix. It’s a style that will suit just about everyone, and it’s remarkably affordable, as well as easy on the enviro-conscience.
