Shoes are totally wasteful, but everyone’s gotta have ’em. So, sustainability has to be part of the game, and Converse just gave their classic Chucks a new interpretation using undyed factory scraps of upcycled raw cotton canvas for membership into their Renew line. The rather sophisticated “Egret” hued shoes also get rough seams for a more organic look. Even the use of rubber and metal is minimized by replacing the toe cap and eyelets with thicker thread and additional canvas. Both the Chuck 70 Hi and the low-top Chuck 70 Ox also have zero leather in the construction. Even the rubber outsoles are made from recycled materials. Over time, the fabric will take on a vintage patina that will only add to the character of these mindful and stylish sneaks.
