The year is September 1965. The place is the San Francisco Examiner. The event is the birth of the hippie movement. While we’re all for the Haight-Ashbury district of San Fran being called a “hip hangout” for beatniks, but we find it hard to believe that a bi-line in the Examiner is what gave birth to the hippie movement. It seems historically dubious to us, but that’s irrelevant because we’re here to talk about shoes that are fit for hippies and, more importantly, you. The SeaVees 09/65 (so named because of the aforementioned date) Bayside Moc Chukka is casual but collected (like the transformation all men go through in their late twenties) because it’s like half boat shoe and half desert boot. A traditional SeaVees gum rubber sole, full grain leather and serape help complete the look.
