The Hotel at the Edge of Golf’s Holy Land

Steps from Royal Portrush Golf Club, Portrush Adelphi is equal parts clubhouse, coastal retreat, and proper pint destination.

“How’s things?”

After an hour or so drive along the meandering countryside roads from Belfast, I’m greeted by friendly faces and down-to-earth locals. As is the way in Northern Ireland.

Newly opened in April 2025, Portrush Adelphi is the sixth property in the Marine & Lawn collection, and the brand’s second in Northern Ireland. Though the bustle of the seaside town can be found just outside, inside there’s a sense of calm. Tartan wallpaper, dark green upholstery, rich mahogany wooden herringbone floors, overflowing greenery, and an open fireplace in the lobby.

It is divine.

Inspired by Ireland’s rugged coastline, each of the 34 rooms features warm patterns, deep blue-green hues, and nods towards the area’s history. Especially inviting after a day exploring the area.

Just downstairs, the Red Sail Room uses locally-sourced Irish ingredients to meet the rich traditions of Italian cuisine, with a menu that seems to have it all—from classic fish & chips and seafood linguine to Bushmills whiskey cured salmon fillet and a Northern Irish steak burger. The room itself is dotted with an array of tables, small lamps, greenery, ship paintings, and a few plush-red couches. An ideal setting for an afternoon tea. In contrast, the bar space is dimly lit with dark wood, emerald greens, and cozy nooks.

There’s something incredibly charming about the beach just steps from where you’re staying, and with the Giant’s Causeway and other highlights so close by, exploring couldn’t be easier.

Home to an array of golf clubs, including Royal Portrush Golf Club (the venue for the 153rd Open Championship in 2025), Portrush is the crown jewel for golf adventurers. All of whom will certainly get a kick out of the golf caddies used as lamp legs and the paintings around the hotel.

Whether you’re teeing off, enjoying a Guinness at the bar, or searching for a hub to enjoy Northern Ireland’s landscapes, Portrush Adelphi has everything you need with a side of Irish charm.
