Hardcore endurance athletes and adventurers have another smartwatch to consider with the arrival of the new Garmin Instinct 2X Solar, which brings seriously impressive military standards for ruggedness and improved solar power. It complies with MIL-STD-810 standards for water, shock, and thermal resistance, and it has a high-strength glass solar array that delivers 50% more energy than the Instinct 2 Solar. The fact that it can run nearly endlessly on solar power in smartwatch mode is all the more reason to get one. The 2X Solar also has improved GPS connectivity with multi-band GNSS support, barometric altimeter, 3-axis compass, and a convenient flashlight. The standard 2X Solar comes in four colors: red, OD green, white, and grey. The Tactical version with a beefier bezel comes in black or tan. All models are available for purchase now directly from Garmin.
