What’s better than a Porche 911 Carrera 4S? How about one that’s rally-ready? Porsche just created two Safari-style prototypes for testing in Ojos del Salado, Chile. The cars are outfitted with roll cages, carbon fiber seats, racing harnesses, special portal axles for added ground clearance, off-road tires, and special rally tech known as a Porsche Warp-Connector that allows all four wheels to link for maximum traction in extreme articulation situations. The engine is the 4S’s twin-turbo flat-six mated to a seven-speed manual transmission. The Safari is piloted by endurance racer Romain Dumas, who will no doubt thrash it to its limits.
