Anytime a car company has an unexpected amount of success with a model, you can expect at least a few concept cars to follow it. In this case, it’s Toyota’s Land Cruiser and the concept is the Compact Cruiser EV. It was first released back in December 2021 in Tokyo and is back in the news now that it’s won the 2022 Car Design Award. The Compact Cruiser EV was designed by Toyota ED2 in Nice and takes most of its inspiration from the first generation of Land Cruisers. The main goal of the concept was to show that electric vehicles aren’t limited to highway driving and have a future in off-roading. Personally, we welcome the growing electric vehicle diversity. As much as we like Teslas, they can’t do everything.
