Everyone’s favorite budget bourbon brand has officially released its annual limited-edition bourbon. The Four Roses 2021 Limited Edition Small Batch bourbon is a perfect distillation of the Four Roses approach to bourbon. The 2021 Limited Edition batch features a blend of four recipes: 16-year-old Bourbon from the OBSV recipe, a 14-year-old OBSQ, a 12-year-old OESK, and a 16-year-old OESV. The hand-curated selection of bourbon recipes and aging times contributes to a mature, complex, dynamic bourbon. This year’s edition is also non-chill filtered and bottled at 114.2 proof making it the highest proof of any previously released Limited Editions, according to Master Distiller Brent Elliot. We had a chance to sample this year’s batch and were blown away. Huge aromas of berry cobbler and rich oak greet you. The flavor is dark fruit, orange, and cinnamon spice before finishing with vanilla and oak char notes. It’s a fantastic bourbon best enjoyed neat.
Four Roses confirmed that about 14,500 hand-numbered bottles will be distributed to US retailers with a suggested MSRP of $150. Expect to see the 2021 Limited Edition start to hit shelves in late September. Four Roses will also offer a small selection for sale at their Visitor Center via a public lottery drawing. Test your luck and register online before September 12. The select few who are drawn will have to pick up their bottles in person at the distillery.
