Dieter Rams might not be a household name, but if you know anything about minimalist design, you know Rams is a god. The German designer might just be the most prominent designer of consumer goods for our age. He influenced the likes of Apple’s Jony Ive and created iconic wares from Braun. Almost a half-century ago, Rams raised the all-important and simple question “Is my design a good design?”, and he consequently developed the 10 principles of good design. This latest book, written in collaboration with Rams and published by Phaidon, showcases his work through 344 pages with 300 illustrations that cover his career that ranges the gamut of products from calculators to audio equipment and even furniture. It’s a must-have coffee table book for both the budding and the seasoned designer, and it may even inspire those who are neither.
