Right now, it’s only a conceptual design, but what a sight the XYZ house is. Potentially situated in the Swiss Alps, it’s equal parts radical domicile and giant art structure. It utilizes the top of a mountain as the supporting foundation, and its Corten steel-clad structure is made up of three perpendicular pieces: an entry bridge, a tower with an elevator and staircase, and a horizontal living area… hence the XYZ nomenclature. The spartan structure is meant to be a place of contemplation as one views the horizon through huge glazed glass openings in the living area. This huge 4,00 square-foot project is a brilliant exercise in minimalism and beauty that deserves a real build.
