Grownups, as well as kids, love LEGOs, so there’s no reason why they can’t be adult-sized. LEGO built two of their HQ buildings with materials made to look like giant LEGOs. It’s a wonder they get anything work done, really. The buildings are located in Billund, Denmark and created by design firm C.F. Møller Architects. The two structures are part of what will be a 54,000 sq. ft. LEGO Campus where their “… mission is to inspire children.” The roof has a yellow outcropping that looks like it was crafted from giant yellow plastic bricks, and portions of the facade show huge vertically-oriented LEGO bricks. Inside, you’ll find more brilliant playfulness with bright colors, LEGO brick walls, and plenty of designs and sculptures using hundreds of thousands of actual LEGOs. The LEGO brand is headed toward sustainability with their future plastics, and the buildings follow suit with solar panels, green roofs, and rainwater collection/irrigation. This is only the start of the campus, so look for more youthful imagination to follow.
