If you still have the Frozen song “Let It Go” bouncing around your brain from your kids wailing it at the top of their lungs on that last road trip, you have a bendy-limbed, whistling mouse to thank. The craze that is all things Disney today stemmed from a simple black-and-white cartoon known as ‘Steamboat Willie’ back in 1928. The iconic cartoon became the most popular one of its time and marked a first for a cartoon with synchronized sound. Now, LEGO has released a set known as LEGO Ideas 21317 Steamboat Willie with 751 black, white, and grey pieces and three minifigures to commemorate the landmark animated short film. The little paddle steamer comes with steam stacks, rotating paddle wheel, working winch, and even a little liferaft with a mouse head silhouette. The set will go on sale online and in LEGO stores on April 1st for $89.99. It’s a great modern interpretation of a pioneering piece of animation. We love the fact that the oversized two-button pants have stayed with the little guy for almost a century.
