Normal skateboards can be small and rather simple vehicles of death to the uninitiated or to the unrehearsed daredevil. Add electric power, shocks, off-road tires, and a 45 mph top speed, and you have a recipe for both crazy fun and the kind of road rash that will require hospitalization or a sound cremation. The Bajaboard Pantera is the most extreme electric skateboard we’ve come across in terms of both design and speed. Though you can only legally ride it on private property (no one wants to clean you up), what thrills you can have thanks to four 3.5-kilowatt motors, a 1.1 kWh battery pack, and four 110-amp motor controllers. Output is rated at 10.7 horsepower (or about 1/5th of a 2000 Toyota Prius), range is 28 miles, and the top end is 45 mph (or about 27 mph faster than Usain Bolt). The suspension is adjustable, and there are even headlights and brake lights to warn everyone around you. The Pantera can even perform its own burnouts in what’s known as “tank mode”. The questions remain as to whether or not you can hold on, and if you remembered to wear that adult diaper.
