Most action cameras can only record what you see. Which is great, but not if you want to share a more third-person perspective of your achievements. The Staaker is meant to give athletes that perspective. The drone works in conjunction with a small tracking device the subject keeps on them and provides the shots you’d see on any sports broadcast, including Follow, Circle, Compass, Hover, and Scenery (all five of which have excellent example videos on Staaker’s site). Its range is impressive, as it can fly up to 19 miles at 50 mpg, between 6.5 and 165 ft above the tracker. And whatever algorithm they’re using to track is insanely accurate, within 4 inches vertically and 1.5 ft horizontally. The only thing is, don’t expect a camera in the box when the pre-order ships in December. Though that shouldn’t be a problem, since it’s built for the GoPro Hero 3, 3+, and 4, and at this point, most people already have one of those.
