If you have an Apple device one of the cables has broken at some point or another. The middles of the cables generally stay in tact, but the ends always split or the coverings come off. You could try the pen spring, fabric braiding or heatshrinking DIY tips out there, or you could just pick up some nearly indestructible Lightning cables wrapped in two layers of flexible steel. Each cable is Apple MFi certified, has a limited lifetime warranty and is made with a one-piece housing fused directly over the cable to keep the connectors in place. As long as Apple doesn’t change the port any time soon, these will last quite some time.
