Usually the only god we find ourselves praying to after a night of drinking is a porcelain one so it’s odd to find a book relating religion to beer. But the Search for God and Guinness points out that the two have quite the history together. The story starts with Christian Arthur Guinness who brewed beer along with monks to offer a healthy alternative to hazardous water and liquors during the time in Ireland. The author, Stephen Mansfield follows the beer from its beginning until it became one of the most consumed beverages in the world.
