Electrophoretic ink, E Ink, is one of those technologies born of the MIT Media Lab that never really saw that commercial application. What used to almost exclusively be the realm of Kindles, Nooks and Kobo e-readers is going to get a whole lot more interesting in September when Twelve24 makes their ClockONE available for purchase. The display is based on four large numerals designed to show time like an old school alarm clock with more elegant corners on the markings. Hang it on the wall with the magnetic mounting system, and push the simple + or – buttons in the middle to adjust the time. The simple, elegant design of the 4mm thin clock that’s so efficient the single battery will last over a year makes it cool to say the least, but it’s the sheer size that will have most people interested. At one meter wide and 35cm tall, this clock is just as much statement piece as it is time keeping device.
