Say what you will about the cult of Apple, but one can’t deny they don’t make some damn fine pieces of technology. The new Cinema display–long a bar-setter for the display market–is due for its next revamp with the introduction of high-efficiency, high-performance LED backlighting. What does that mean? Brighter brights, blacker blacks, and a better looking picture. Moreover the new 27-inch beastie crams 60 more pixels than a 24-inch into it’s viewing area. With a movie-friendly aspect ration of 16:9 and a whopping 2560-by-1440 resolution, anything you throw up on that screen will look exceptional. Unless it’s a close up of, well, you know. No one wants to see that in this kind of detail. That’s why we turn the lights down. Obviously.
