Bugatti Is Building a $33,000 Car for Kids

With the likes of the La Voiture Noire, Veyron and Chiron, it’s not uncommon for Bugatti to release gorgeous cars with a sticker price as crazy as they are fast. But the recently unveiled Bugatti Baby II is in a world of its own even for this brand. How did Bugatti decide to celebrate their 110th Anniversary and the racing pedigree of the 20s era Type 35? By building a a three-quarters-size replica of the famed Type 35 racecar that’s similar to the half-scale Type 35 that Ettore built for his son Roland in 1926. It’s essentially a Bugatti go-kart with a max 13.4hp and range of about 19 miles that’s specially sized for kids, limited to 500 units, already sold out and “affordably priced” at a mere $33,000. Don’t get us wrong, this thing is absolutely stunning and probably one of the finest examples of cars this size we’ve ever seen. But despite the fact that Bugatti say it can be driven by adults, we’re dubious that it’s possible without eating your own knees as you try to hit top speed.
