Back in woodshop we used to take pieces of previously used lumber and construct various home furnishings that we would try and pass off as gifts for family members. If we built them ourselves no one could complain that their end table wobbled or the drawer on their nightstand was “just for show.” What we were gunning for however was something like the pieces in the Stria Storage Collection from West Elm. After supporting the travel of trains in India in years past these pieces of solid saal wood have been reclaimed and reborn as the drawer fronts to these rustic furnishings. The rest of the frame is built with solid mango and acacia all with a honey finish. Just like a bunch of manly, sanded snowflakes, no two pieces are alike.
