Lone Survivor is a movie about a team of Navy Seals who set out on a mission to capture or kill notorious Taliban leader Ahmad Shah. During the op they’re faced with an impossible moral decision that makes the story as much of a human interest piece as it is an action flick. We’ve seen it, and we can tell you that the movie is phenomenal. If it was fiction it would still be a phenomenal watch, but this is all the more poignant because it’s based on a true story. Marcus Luttrell, Michael Murphy, Danny Dietz and Matt Axelson are real life Navy SEALs that were deployed in late June 2005 as part of Operation Red Wings, which just makes the movie that much better.
