Gibson Is Recreating Two Iconic Jimi Hendrix Guitars

Jimi Hendrix is the most influential guitar player to have ever picked up an axe, and his legacy lives on to this day more than fifty years after his death. In honor of the 50th Anniversary of his passing, Gibson has created two new custom guitars based on Hendrix favorites. The first is the Jimi Hendrix 1967 SG Custom – Aged Polaris White (limited to 150 units) based on the guitar Hendrix played during his performance on “The Dick Cavett Show” in the late 60s. The second is the Jimi Hendrix 1969 Flying V – Aged Ebony (available in left or right handed, limited to 125 units each) based on the guitar that Hendrix used during his performance at the Isle of Wight Festival at Afton Downs in 1970. Both of the guitars are handmade by the expert luthiers and craftspeople at the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville and include official photos of Jimi with the original guitars, a collection of anecdotes and personal photos from his frequent collaborator and renowned engineer Eddie Kramer.
