Generally, flashlights aren’t elegant tools. Simplistic, maybe, but not necessarily designed to be what we would consider elegant. All of that changes with the new MoMA Store exclusive Sphelar Solar Flashlight. The sculptural flashlight is designed around the use of micro-spherical solar cells, embedded in the handle, to power the flashlight. That means that each of the tiny orbs captures sunlight from all directions, which maximizes the amount of light absorbed. Once you take it off the included wooden base and get it fully charged, you’ll get up to four hours of LED light. If you happen to have a lanyard, or you’re willing to pick one up, the handle can also accommodate one of those for easier travel. In theory, you’ll never have to buy batteries again.
