Google “How to Pick a Padlock” and a collection of easy instructional videos await, many boasting that five seconds and a paperclip is all you need. We don’t know about you, but to us that doesn’t sound super secure. Meet Model 543 from the Bowley Lock Company. The unique key and key slot make this lock nearly unpickable. The key enters the lock at a 45° angle. The dual forks of the key pass around the dual shields in the lock until they align with the pins, which allows the key to insert farther into the lock. That’s all a way of saying that your stupid paperclip can beat it. Plus, since the shackle is made from thick hardened steel and hides mostly behind the beefy lock body, trying to cut it won’t get you far. Choose from aluminum, brass, or stainless steel.
