The Polestar O₂ Concept is equal parts performance and environmentally conscious. While it looks like a supercar, the Polestar O₂ Concept uses a bonded aluminum spaceframe architecture that uses metal melted by renewable energy. Furthermore, all the aluminum used is labeled by grade and can be recycled at the end of the car’s life. The Polestar O₂ also employs what’s known as “mono-materials” in the cabin. It’s essentially a single kind of thermoplastic made from recycled polyester. It’s used in the foam, adhesive, 3D knit fibers, and lamination, none of which need to be disassembled to be recycled, essentially the opposite of traditional car interiors. The fully electric car even has its own drone with camera that deploys from the rear deck and will follow and film the car at speeds of up to 56 mph. Dock it, and video can be shared to social media from the car’s infotainment display. While the Polestar O₂ Concept might never go into production, it points to brilliant things the brand is doing all in the name of protecting the earth.
