Say what you will about the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 that was unveiled for Monterey Car Week 2021. Nobody really loved it, but the car was certainly a statement about the impact of the original 1971 Countach on the automotive world. It turns out at least one Lambo lover just wanted to have the Countach’s illustrious past come to modernity with hardly a change to it. An unnamed collector approached Lamborghini with the notion of recreating the original, and the result is mindblowing. The project was funded by the collector, and we’re guessing the sum was quite a bit more than the cost of the original production version. The Sant’Agata automaker’s classics division, Polo Storico, used archival documents to build the old-is-new Countach and even went so far as to replicate the Pirelli tires and the original Giallo Fly Yellow Speciale paint. Tens of thousands of hours went into the build, and it’s as close to perfection as an homage build can get. The final product is on display in the illustrious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
