The Flying Pigeon Traditional Complete Bike

The Flying Pigeon Traditional Complete Bike

People much smarter than us have been saying for ages that history repeats itself. That’s true in some sort of big picture sense, but we’re more interested in the here and now which means reinvention instead of repetition. Here’s the thing: more than 60 years ago, an iconic bicycle called The Flying Pigeon was released overseas. It was hugely popular (Google Image search “flying pigeon” and you get almost as many bikes as birds), but was never customized for the US. This new version of the bike shares the same DNA as the original, but the final package is as far removed from your grandfather’s version as you are from his sweet facial hair. It maintains the classic heritage and profile, but it’s upgrades like: a leather seat, Dutch-style parallel handlebars, modern tires and pedals, cable brakes and splatter proof fenders. It’s the two wheeled equivalent of restoring a classic car except you don’t have to do any of the work yourself.
