If this slippery EV looks familiar, you’re not wrong. Aptera Motors was founded in 2006 and then closed its doors in 2011 after failing to secure funding for its EV in a precarious market. The company has now risen from the ashes to offer up the Aptera Paradigm Plus, teardrop-shaped three-wheeled EV capable of 1,000 miles on a single charge. What’s more, it has the ability to charge itself via 32 square feet of solar panels built into the body. These solar panels give it 45 miles of daily range and up to 11,000 miles per year (in ideal conditions, that is). They call it Never Charge technology, thanks to its ability to top off the trike wherever it goes. The Paradigm Plus and lower range Paradigm (400 miles) can plug into a standard 110v outlet to juice up its battery to drive the wheel-mounted motors. Lest you think it’s not quick, do not be mistaken. The car’s light weight (1,800-2,200 pounds), all-wheel drive traction, and ideal aerodynamics allow it to hit a 110-mile top speed and reach 60 mph from a standstill in 3.5 seconds. Pre-orders have been sold out, but you can order your own with a deposit.
