The future is the past, the past the future. No one we know said that, but it seems Argentinian fabricator Patricio Castelli’s hand-crafted aluminum motorcycle pretty much embodies this mantra. The radical bike was inspired by sci-fi spacecraft from the ’40s and ’50s, and it looks more like an interplanetary rocket/plane than a motorcycle. Based on an Argentinian scooter known as the Zanella ZB 125, Castelli only retained the motor and the transmission and then built the rest from scratch. The entire bike is out of this world, and it doesn’t even look like it’s ready to ride, instead better relegated to a modern museum exhibit. The long front swingarm keeps the steering system internal, and the airship-like fuselage tapers beautifully into the rear. The handlebars and seat setup look like an art deco jet plane just landed on the thing since the handlebars pretty much look like wings but are fully functional. Patricio’s shop motto, ‘Abandonen Toda Esperanza’ (‘Abandon All Hope’) taken from Dante’s Inferno, is the name of this rolling piece of artwork. Far less of an everyday rideable moto, the bike stands as one of the most unique builds we’ve ever seen and a fine example of pushing the limits of motorcycle design.
